SCHOOL BUS PROCEDURE
Transport to school is provided by TSU (Tel: 24 74 4791) and the SSO
supplies local civilian escorts.
Accordingly, they have the delegated authority of staff i/c buses and are
advised and monitored in carrying out duties. Issues of discipline are
reported through the SSO (Tel: 24 74 4701) and DCOS, HQ Dhekelia
Garrison ( 24 74 4807 ) has overall control.
Use of the school buses by pupils is at the discretion of the SSO/DCOS.
The escorts have the authority to:
• Stop and start buses.
• Decide whether anyone who is not a KRS pupil may use the bus.
• Seat pupils at their discretion, ensuring that they wear their seat
belts.
• Require pupils to behave in an orderly fashion.
• Report misbehaviour to the SSO.
If any parent or pupil has a complaint against the driver, bus escort or any
other passenger on the bus, it should be reported as soon as possible to
the SSO. Under no circumstances is it acceptable to have bus escorts
personally approached by parents, either on the bus or in their homes.
There is a member of staff on duty at the start and end of the school day
and they can tackle immediate problems.
TRANSPORT FROM UN NICOSIA
Transport from Nicosia is provided. The journey takes about one hour.
AFTER-SCHOOL CLUB TRANSPORT
Transport is provided for pupils who usually use school transport.
Pupils are expected to register that they require transport and cancel first
thing on the day of the club at the latest. Any changes to transport
requirements are to be reported to the Office. Escorts are also provided
for these buses.
