STUDENT PROPERTY & CLOTHING
All pupils have access to a locker. We recommend that you provide your own lock and
retain a spare key. Lockers are to be inspected when the pupil leaves or no longer
wants it. We do ask that lockers are emptied before each holiday.
Pupils should see the school caretaker if they have lost any items of personal
property. Every term we give unclaimed lost property to the local community. It should
be stressed with regard to lost property that most pupils are meticulously honest in
handing it in, but astonishingly lax in making any effort to retrieve it.
To save parents expense, they are advised that all clothing and PE kit (including
shoes) should be clearly labelled with the pupil's name so that it can be returned if
lost.
If any items do get lost then the loss should be reported to the pastoral care staff, the
Headteacher or the Deputy Headteacher immediately. It is very difficult to retrieve
items that have gone missing weeks after they have disappeared.
We do not encourage pupils to bring expensive personal electronic equipment in
case they add problems to an emergency situation. They should not be used during
class time and mobile phones are to be switched off. Any items of value (eg
electronic calculators) which pupils might bring to school should be effectively
labelled.
